วัดศาลาลอย ด้านทิศตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือของตัวเมือง โดยแยกจากถนนรอบเมืองไปประมาณ 500 เมตร วัดนี้ตั้งอยู่ติดกับลำตะคองซึ่งไหลพาดผ่านตอนเหนือของตัวเมืองไปลงสู่แม่น้ำมูล ท้าวสุรนารีกับท่านปลัดสามีสร้างขึ้นเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2370 จุดเด่นของวัดอยู่ที่พระอุโบสถซึ่งได้รับรางวัลดีเด่นแนวบุกเบิกอาคารทางศาสนา จากสมาคมสถาปนิกสยาม ในพระบรมราชูปถัมภ์ และรางวัลจากมูลนิธิเสฐียรโกเศศและนาคะประทีป ในปี พ.ศ. 2516 เป็นอุโบสถที่สร้างแบบศิลปไทยประยุกต์ เป็นรูปสำเภาโต้คลื่น ใช้วัสดุพื้นเมืองคือกระเบื้องดินเผาด่านเกวียนนำมาประดับตกแต่ง เช่น ผนังด้านหน้าอุโบสถเป็นภาพพุทธประวัติตอนมารผจญ ผนังด้านหลังเป็นภาพตอนพระพุทธเจ้าเสด็จลงมาจากดาวดึงส์ ส่วนบานประตูเป็นโลหะลายนูน ภาพเล่าเรื่องเวชสันดรชาดก (13 กัณฑ์) ภายในมีพระประธานปูนปั้นสีขาว ปางห้ามสมุทร เป็นพระพุทธรูปยืนประทับ ณ ประตูเมืองสังกัสนคร หน้าประตูอุโบสถมีปูนปั้นรูปท้าวสุรนารีนั่งพนมมือกลางสระน้ำ ตัวอุโบสถล้อมรอบด้วยกำแพงแก้วรูปเสมา สัญลักษณ์ของเมืองเสมาเดิม ด้านข้างมีสถูปขนาดเล็กซึ่งเคยใช้เป็นที่บรรจุอัฐิท้าวสุรนารี

At Wat Sala Loi, there is an old chapel aged over 100 years and a new chapel that was built in 1967. The new chapel is a characteristic of applied Thai art that was made in the shape of a surfing junk, using the native materials that are Dan Kwian clay tiles. The heroic deeds at Thing Samrit of Thao Suranaree or Ya Mo, wife of the Permanent Secretary of Nakhon Ratchasima, who led the Korat people to rise up and fight with the army of Prince Anuwong of Vientaine and successfully saved the Korat city. This is Ya Mo’s heroic deeds that people remember and always pay respect to her. Besides, Wat Sala Loi is a place where contains Ya Mo's ashes. According to the legend of the construction of Wat Sala Loi as it said in 1827, after winning the battle, Ya Mo and her husband stopped and rested the army on the journey back to Korat. Meanwhile, she commanded to make a raft in the shape of a pavilion and floated it along the Lam Takong with praying that if the raft stops somewhere, the temple will be built as a memorial. Finally, the raft stopped at the shore of Lam Takong where is the location of Wat Sala Loi now. Later, Ya Mo passed away at the age of 81 in 1853. Her husband built a pagoda containing Yamo's ashes at Wat Sala Loi where is revered by Korat people until the present.
