“วัดป่าบ้านตาด” หรือชื่อทางการว่า “วัดเกษรศีลคุณ” ตั้งอยู่ ณ หมู่บ้านบ้านตาด ตำบลบ้านตาด อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดอุดรธานี ห่างจากตัวเมืองอุดรธานีไปทางทิศใต้ ไปประมาณ 16 กิโลเมตร ซึ่งเคยเป็นที่พำนักของพระอาจารย์มหาบัว ญาณสัมปันโน พระอาจารย์วิปัสสนาสายพระอาจารย์มั่น ภูริทัตโต เป็นที่เคารพศรัทธาเลื่อมใสชองพุทธศาสนิกชนโดยทั่วไป และวัดนี้เหมาะสำหรับผู้ที่ต้องการไปปฏิบัติธรรม

ภายในวัดมีศาลาการเปรียญซึ่งเป็นศาลาไม้หลังใหญ่ เดิมทีเป็นศาลาชั้นเดียวยกพื้นเตี้ย แต่ภายหลังถูกยกให้สูงขึ้น 2 ชั้น เพื่อจะใช้ประโยชน์ได้มากขึ้น ด้านบนศาลานั้น ให้เป็นที่ประดิษฐาน ของพระพุทธรูปองค์ใหญ่ที่เป็นพระประธานของวัด ใช้เป็นที่แสดงธรรมอบรมแก่พระภิกษุสามเณรในวัด ตลอดจนเป็นที่ประชุมทำสังฆกรรมร่วมกัน เช่น สวดพระปาฏิโมกข์ อธิษฐานเข้าพรรษา สวดปวารณา และกรานกฐินเป็นต้น ตู้ด้านขวาขององค์พระประธาน นั้น เป็นที่ประดิษฐานอัฐิธาตุของ ท่านพระอาจารย์มั่น ภูริทัตตเถระ ซึ่งเป็นพระอาจารย์ของหลวงตามหาบัว รวมทั้งอัฐิธาตุของครูบาอาจารย์องค์อื่นๆ ส่วนด้านล่างศาลานั้นใช้เป็นที่สำหรับฉันภัตตาหารเช้า สถานที่ที่หลวงตามหาบัวใช้ในการแสดงธรรมเทศนาและปฏิสันถารกับศรัทธาฆราวาสญาติโยม ที่มาจากทุกสารทิศอย่างไม่ขาดสายไม่เว้นแต่ละวัน กุฏิของพระภิกษุสามเณรแต่ละรูป เป็นกุฏิเรียบง่าย พอแก่การบังแดด ลม ฝน จะสูงจากพื้นดิน ประมาณ 1 เมตร เพื่อกันการรบกวนจากสัตว์เลื้อยคลาน ความชื้นจากพื้นดิน ฯลฯ มีขนาดเพียงพอ สำหรับอยู่เพียงองค์เดียว ฝาผนังส่วนใหญ่ใช้จีวรเก่าขึงแทน เพื่อกันลม กันฝน ใช้มุ้งกลดกันยุง ภายในกุฏิจะมีเพียงกลด เสื่อปูนอน ผ้าห่ม เครื่องอัฏฐบริขาร ตะเกียงหรือเทียนไข และของใช้ ที่จำเป็นอื่นๆ ด้านหัวนอนจะมีพระพุทธรูปหรือรูปครูบาอาจารย์ติดไว้ เพื่อกราบไหว้บูชาเป็น กำลังใจในการบำเพ็ญภาวนา ทุกกุฏิจะมีทางเดินจงกรมอย่างน้อย 1 เส้น ยาวประมาณ 25 ก้าว อยู่ใต้ร่มไม้ดูร่มเย็น ในยามค่ำคืนการเดินจงกรม จะใช้โคมเทียนจุดสว่างพอให้เห็นทาง กุฏิแต่ละหลัง จะมองไม่เห็นกันประหนึ่งว่า อยู่ท่ามกลางป่าเพียง องค์เดียว เพื่อให้สัปปายะสะดวกในการบำเพ็ญ สมณธรรม กุฏิที่สร้างถาวรมีอยู่รวมประมาณ 10 กว่าหลัง เป็นกุฏิของหลวงตา ภิกษุสูงอายุ กุฏิของญาติโยม ตามปกติญาติโยมทั้งหญิงและชายมักมาขออยู่พัก ปฏิบัติธรรมภาวนา เป็นช่วงเวลาสั้นๆ โดยเฉลี่ยอยู่ในระหว่าง ประมาณ 50-100 คน จัดแยก เขตกันระหว่างพระภิกษุสามเณร ญาติโยมชายและหญิงอย่างเป็นระเบียบ
