Wat Semachai is currently an abundant temple located in the area of Nakhon Si Thammarat School. On the north side of the temple, only old ubosot with a raised base remains since the modern hall has been built. At present, there is a sacred Buddha image known as Luang Pho Semachai and Chaomae Ang Thong. The pond is believed by the villagers to be a holy pond as the pond of Wat Sememuang. It is usually used as blessed water in royal ceremonies such as blessed water in the royal wedding ceremonies or consecrated water for reigns.
Semachai means the sign of winning. In the past, Phrachao Sri Thammasokrat, King of the city, built this temple after attacking the southern cities and gaining a victory. The temple was restored as a sacred blessing to the country, so the blessed water in the pond was given to the soldiers for drinking before entering the war. When the Chao Phraya Noi travel to attack Sai Buri, he sprinkled the holy water to the soldiers and gave them the water for drinking before the battlement. Therefore, people believed that whosoever drank this holy water would gain a victory at all times. In the past, in Nakhon Si Thammarat, the sacred water from this pond was brought to ceremony and rituals such as the ceremony of the consecrated water and the Chakri royal wedding ceremony. Lately, the province has given the holy water from this pond, one of the six ponds of Nakhon Si Thammarat, to the King Rama IX on the occasion of His Majesty the King's 70th Birthday Anniversary, December 5, 1999.
