ข้อมูลทั่วไป อุทยานแห่งชาติแม่วะอยู่ในบริเวณพื้นที่อำเภอเถิน อำเภอแม่พริก จังหวัดลำปาง และอำเภอสามเงา อำเภอบ้านตาก จังหวัดตาก ประกอบด้วยภูเขาสูงสลับซับซ้อน สภาพป่าอุดมสมบูรณ์ ชุกชุมไปด้วยสัตว์ป่านานาชนิด มีทิวทัศน์ที่งดงามเป็นเอกลักษณ์ทางธรรมชาติ เช่น น้ำตกแม่วะ มีน้ำไหลตลอดปีเป็นที่รู้จักของประชาชนทั่วไป การคมนาคมสะดวก อยู่ห่างจากที่ว่าการอำเภอเถินประมาณ 19 กิโลเมตร อุทยานแห่งชาติแม่วะ มีเนื้อที่ประมาณ 366,875 ไร่ หรือ 587 ตารางกิโลเมตร 

ลักษณะภูมิประเทศ สภาพภูมิประเทศโดยทั่วไป เป็นภูเขาสูงสลับซับซ้อน ทางทิศเหนือและทิศตะวันออกของพื้นที่เป็นภูเขาสูงชัน ทางตอนกลางถึงตอนใต้ของพื้นที่เป็นเทือกเขาสูง โดยบริเวณยอดเขาจะเป็นพื้นที่ราบกว้างใหญ่ ซึ่งมีต้นสนเขาขนาดใหญ่ขึ้นกระจายอยู่ทั่วไป ทำให้มีทิวทัศน์ที่สวยงาม ส่วนทางทิศตะวันตกของพื้นที่เป็นภูเขาหินปูน ความสูงประมาณ 300-400 เมตร จากระดับน้ำทะเล ประกอบด้วยดอยผาจี่ ดอนผาขัดห้าง ดอยปูโมะ และดอยแปรหลวง โดยมีดอยผาจี่ เป็นดอยที่สูงที่สุด สูงประมาณ 1,027 เมตร

 

ลักษณะภูมิอากาศ เป็นแบบมรสุมเมืองร้อน โดยได้รับอิทธิพลจากมรสุมตะวันตกเฉียงใต้ ในช่วงฤดูฝน และ ลมมรสุมตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือในช่วงฤดูหนาว ฤดูฝนเริ่มกลางเดือนพฤษภาคม-กันยายน และมีฝนตกหนักในเดือนกันยายน ฤดูหนาวเริ่มเดือนตุลาคม-กลางเดือนกุมภาพันธ์ ฤดูร้อนเริ่มเดือนกุมภาพันธ์-กลางเดือนพฤษภาคม

 

พืชพรรณและสัตว์ป่า สภาพป่าในพื้นที่อุทยานแห่งชาติประกอบด้วย ป่าเบญจพรรณ ป่าดงดิบ ป่าเต็งรัง ป่าสนเขา พันธุ์ไม้ที่สำคัญได้แก่ มะค่าโมง แดง ประดู่ ตะแบก ชิงชัง มะกอกป่า ยมหิน รกฟ้า กระโดน ตะเคียนทอง กระบาก เต็ง รัง เหียง สนสองใบ สนสามใบ เป็นต้น

 

ส่วนสัตว์ป่านั้นเนื่องจากสภาพป่าอยู่ในเขตภูเขาสลับซับซ้อน อีกทั้งสภาพป่าที่อุดมสมบูรณ์ มีแหล่งอาหารและแหล่งน้ำกระจัดกระจายอยู่ทั่วพื้นที่ จึงมีสัตว์ป่าอาศัยอยู่มาก เช่น เสือโคร่ง กระทิง หมีควาย กวางป่า เก้ง หมูป่า กระต่ายป่า จำพวกนกได้แก่ เหยี่ยว นกฮูก นกกระปูด นกเค้าแมว กบและปลาชนิดต่าง ๆ

 

 น้ำตกแม่วะ อยู่ในเขตพื้นที่บ้านน้ำดิบ หมู่ที่ 3 ตำบลแม่วะ อำเภอเถิน จังหวัดลำปาง บริเวณโดยรอบของน้ำตกแม่วะประกอบไปด้วยภูเขาสูงชัน มีดอยแปลหลวง เป็นต้นกำเนิดของน้ำตกนี้ และจะไหลลงสู่แม่น้ำวังในที่สุด น้ำตกแม่วะประกอบไปด้วย น้ำตกแม่วะประกอบไปด้วย น้ำตกชั้นต่าง ๆ ทั้งหมด 9 ชั้น แต่ละชั้นมีความงามแบบต่างๆ กัน มีทางเดินขึ้นไปถึงแค่น้ำตกชั้นที่ 8 สภาพเส้นทางระหว่างน้ำตกชั้นที่ 1-4 ระยะทาง 700 เมตร เดินได้สะดวก จากนั้นทางเริ่มสูงชันขึ้นไปจนถึงชั้นที่ 8 รวมระยะทาง 2.2 กิโลเมตร สำหรับน้ำตกชั้นที่ 9 มีชื่อว่า ตาดหลวง มีความสูงประมาณ 100 เมตร ต้องปีนหน้าผาจากน้ำตกชั้นที่ 8 ขึ้นไปอีกไกลจึงจะถึง

 

การเดินทางใช้ทางหลวงแผ่นดินหมายเลข 1 (ถนนพหลโยธิน) เมื่อผ่านอำเภอแม่พริก จังหวัดลำปาง ไปถึงประมาณกิโลเมตรที่ 500 จะมีทางแยกเข้าสู่ที่ทำการอุทยานแห่งชาติ ผ่านทางแยกนี้ไปอีกประมาณ 6 กิโลเมตร จะถึงหน่วยพิทักษ์อุทยานแห่งชาติที่ มว.1 (น้ำตกแม่วะ) น้ำตกอยู่ห่างไปอีกประมาณ 500 เมตร นอกจากนี้ยังมี เส้นทางศึกษาธรรมชาติ เป็นทางเดินขึ้นเขาผ่านป่าเต็งรังและป่าเบญจพรรณ แล้วเดินขึ้นสันเขาผ่านจุดชมทิวทัศน์ไปจนพบกับน้ำตกชั้นที่ 8 รวมระยะทางประมาณ 3.8 กิโลเมตร เหมาะสำหรับการเดินชมป่าเปลี่ยนสีในช่วงฤดูแล้ง

 

 ถ้ำพระเจดีย์ อยู่ในเขตท้องที่บ้านน้ำดิบ หมู่ที่ 3 ตำบลแม่วะ อำเภอเถิน จังหวัดลำปาง เป็นถ้ำหินปูนขนาดกลางภายในถ้ำมีหินงอกรูปทรงเจดีย์อยู่บนพื้น และรูปอ่างเก็บน้ำเป็นชั้นๆ ราษฎรบ้านน้ำดิ[ได้ร่วมกันพัฒนาบริเวณถ้ำเป็นสถานที่ท่องเที่ยวประจำหมู่บ้าน บริเวณใกล้เคียงกับถ้ำพระเจดีย์ ยังมีถ้ำช้างและถ้ำเล็กถ้ำน้อยอีกหลายแห่ง ซึ่งถ้ำเหล่านี้อยู่ห่างจากบ้านน้ำดิบประมาณ 3 กิโลเมตร

 

ถ้ำน้ำผ่าผางาม อยู่ในเขตท้องที่บ้านวังสำราญ ตำบลพระบาทวังตวง อำเภอแม่พริก จังหวัดลำปาง เป็นถ้ำหินปูนขนาดใหญ่ มีทางวกไปวนมาและมีความลึกมาก ภายในถ้ำมีน้ำไหลผ่าน และมีหินงอกหินย้อยที่สวยงามตระการตา

การเดินทาง รถยนต์ เดินทางจากจังหวัดลำปางไปตามทางหลวงแผ่นดินหมายเลข 1 (ถนนพหลโยธิน) สายจังหวัดลำปาง-ตาก ระหว่างกิโลเมตรที่ 498-499 จะมีทางแยกเข้าไปอีกประมาณ 10 กิโลเมตร (บริเวณทางแยกเป็นที่ตั้งของโรงเรียนแม่วะวิทยา) นอกจากนี้บริเวณทางทิศเหนือของพื้นที่อุทยานแห่งชาติมีอาณาเขตจดทางหลวงจังหวัดหมายเลข 1048 จากอำเภอเถิน จังหวัดลำปาง ไปอำเภอทุ่งเสลี่ยม จังหวัดสุโขทัย

 

General Information Mae Wa National Park located in Mae Wa, Thoenburi , Lomrat, Mae Pa , Mae Mok, and Wiangmok sub-districts, Thoen district, Phrabatwangtuang sub-district, Mae Phrik district, Lampang province, and Wanchan sub-district, Samngao district, Maesalit sub-district, Ban Tak district, Tak province. It consists of complicatedly high mountains, productive forest which are the habitat of a great number of animals in many kinds, and wonderful places to visit such as Mae Wa Waterfall which has water flow all the year round and been well known by many people. Having convenient way to visit and locating only 19 km. from Thoen District Administration Office, Mae Wa National Park is about 587 square kilometers and has been declared a national park since November 17, 2000.

 

Topography Mae Wa National Park, generally, is complicatedly high mountains. The north part consists of high and erected mountains while the middle and south part consists of mountain range which has vastly plain area on the top. The area has huge pine tree grow everywhere that makes this area is very beautiful. The west part of this area is Limestone Mountains high 300-400 meters above sea level.

 

Climate The weather is tropical monsoon influenced by southwestern monsoon in rainy season and northeastern monsoon in winter. Rainy season starts in the middle of May to September which has heavy rain. Winter starts in October to the middle of February. Summer starts in February to the middle of May.

 

Flora and Fauna The forest in the surveyed area consists of mixed deciduous forest, rainforest, dry evergreen forest and pine forest, all of which have valuable plants such as Makhaa Mong, ironwood, Burmese ebony, Lagerstroenia, rosewood, wild hog plum, almond-wood, laurel, Careya sphaerica Roxb, Anisoptera, Siamese sal, ingyin, as Pinus merkusii Jungh and Pinus kesiya Royle ex Gordon. There are a great number of wild animals, such as tiger, seladang, bear, buffalo, dear, barking deer, hare, frog, many kinds of fish, and birds such as hawk, coucal, and owl, because the area has the complicated mountains, productive forest, and food and water supply spreading all over.

 

 Mae Wa Waterfall Mae Wa Waterfall locates in Village No.3, Namdip Village, Mae Wa Sub-district, Thoen District, Lampang Province. Consisting of high and erected mountains, Paeluang Mountain (Doi Paeluang) is the source of the waterfall which its water flows down to Wang River. The waterfall, consists of eight levels each of which are different in beauty, locates 100 meters from a by road between kilometer stone number 498 – 499, national road number 1 (Asia Highway Road), approximately 105 kilometers from Lampang Province.

 

PhraChedi Cave ,lo>Phrachedi Cave, in Village No 3, Numdip Village, Mae Wa Sub-district, Thoen District, Lampang Province, is a medium-size limestone cave which has pagoda-like stalagmite on the floor and tiered ponds inside. People of Namdip Village have developed the cave to be the traveling place of the village. There also are Elephant Cave and many small-size caves nearby. All of which locate about 3 kilometers from Namdip Village.

 

Nampha -Pha Ngam Cave Nampha-Pha Ngam Cave, in Wangsamran Village, Phrabatwangtuang Sub-district, Maephrik District, Lampamg Province, is a big limestone cave which has very beautiful stalagmites and stalactites, and a cold-water stream inside. The pathway inside the cave is very long and complicated.

 

Forest and Sceneries The areas on the ridge of Doi Khunhuaipong, Doi Kingkot and Doi Tachi, in the middle to the south of surveyed area, is the vast plains which have pine tree such as Pinus merkusii Jungh and Pinus kesiya Royle ex Gordon mixed with many kinds of Fagaceae. And because almost all the areas are covered by cogon grass so that make the areas are beautiful and suitable for walking to study nature.

How to go? By Car Use national road number 1 (Asia Highway Road) from Lampang Province to Tak Province and turn left at a byroad between kilometer stone number 498 – 499 for 10 kilometers. In addition, the north part of the surveyed forest is close to national road number 1048 which goes from Thoen District, Lampang Province to Thungsaliam District, Sukhothai Province.
