The buzzing epicentre of the annual Songkran festivities on the banks of the Chao Phraya, Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort is once again inviting residents and visitors to ring in the Thai New Year with an exciting multi-day programme covering every taste imaginable.

At the serene Riverside Terrace, guests can enjoy a royal Songkran dinner featuring traditional flavours and a cultural show. As they reunite with family and friends in a charming riverside setting, a palace-themed dinner featuring authentic Thai dishes including mud crab, giant river prawns and Thai wagyu beef will be served alongside a delightful cultural show showcasing Thai dancing and music. The experience is available on 13-15 April 2023 and is priced at THB 1,699 net per person.

Offering an epic Thai New Year feast for the entire family, Songkran Sunday Brunch at Trader Vic’s on 16 April will be treating patrons to countless live stations serving up signature cuisine of the Pacific Rim, Australian prime rib roast, Alaskan king crab, imported oysters and homemade pasta from the cheese wheel, plus sizzling teppanyaki. Adults can dance to a live band on the riverbank as the youngsters fill up on sugary treats. Prices start from THB 2,500++ per person.

Teppanyaki lovers, meanwhile, can quench their Japanese cravings with festive set menus at Benihana that will be serving Songkran teppanyaki specials such as iron griddle-cooked wagyu beef, giant river prawns and duck breast alongside sushi, Japanese appetisers, hibachi vegetables, and scrumptious dessert. Songkran specials are available on 13-15 April and are priced at THB 4,999 net per person.

Those who want to experience the Thai New Year through the lens of a centuries-old tradition are invited to do so over a sharing meal of cooling Khao Chae at the resort’s blooms-filled Maa Laa Café & Studio between 13-15 April. Anantara chefs will be serving a bowl of chilled, jasmine-fragranced rice accompanied by traditional condiments ranging from deep-fried shrimp paste balls and sweet dried turnips to steamed green chilli stuffed with minced pork. Each Khao Chae set is priced at THB 750++, based on two people sharing.

To be as close to the water as possible, guests can book a dinner with Manohra Cruises for a night of refined Thai cuisine and unforgettable panoramas. A special menu referencing traditional flavours of Songkran and reinterpreting them in a modern key will be served following a welcome reception with cocktails on the riverbank. Guests will have the chance to admire Bangkok’s landmarks as they glide past them in a beautifully restored rice barge serenaded by live music. The experience is available on 13-15 April for THB 3,900 net per person.

For a seafood-focused celebration, guests can opt for Songkran Mud Crab Mania at Spice & Barley offering a premium a la carte selection from 13 to 30 April. Inside the designer restaurant patrons will find many delectable dishes – all priced at THB 888++ – starring mud crab, including such highlights as wok-fried Singapore chilli crab; steamed crab in Hong Kong soya sauce; wok-fried crab with egg served Thai curry-style; and steamed mud crab with fresh milk and egg.
