New-age airline Vietjet has achieved significant success at the prestigious Singapore Airshow 2024. The company has announced major deals with industry leaders Airbus, Rolls-Royce, RTX’s Pratt & Whitney and Safran, designed to enhance, empower, and support the airline’s fleet and flight network expansion for its future growth, while showcasing its commitment to safety, efficiency and sustainability.

1. Vietjet and Airbus Announce the Order for 20 Widebody A330neo

Vietjet and Airbus have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the purchase of 20 A330neo (A330-900) widebodies, marking one of the most significant deals at the Singapore Airshow 2024. This investment, Vietjet’s largest in widebody aircraft to date, underscores the airline’s commitment to expanding its flight network and fleet modernization.

The aircraft will be operated on the carrier’s growing long range network, as well as on high capacity regional services. They will replace the carrier’s current fleet of leased A330-300s, as well as providing for network expansion.

Designed to be efficient, the advanced A330neo aligns with Vietjet’s sustainable development strategy and ESG goals, aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050. With the new-generation widebody A330neo, the airlines look forward to offer passengers longer-range, well-equipped flights with excellent services at more competitive fares.

The A330neo offers an award-winning Airspace cabin, ensuring a comfortable travel experience with increased space and modern amenities. Powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, it can fly non-stop for 7,200 nm/13,300 km.

2.  Vietjet opts for Rolls-Royce’s Trent 7000 engines powered 20 A330neo

Vietjet and Rolls-Royce have announced a commitment for 20 Trent 7000 powered A330neo, which will complement the airline’s existing widebody fleet of seven Trent 700 powered A330ceo aircraft.

With a laser focus on sustainability, the Trent 7000 engines deliver a 14% better fuel burn per seat, whilst significantly lowering emissions. The reduction in emissions will allow the airline to avoid more than one hundred thousand tons of CO2 over the lifetime of each aircraft, as the airline expand its operation responsibly and sustainably over the coming years.

As the Trent 7000 engines power Vietjet’s newest generation of Airbus A330neo, they will help Vietjet’s widebody fleet reach new technological heights, significantly enhance flight quality, and at the same time increase operational reliability and efficiency.

3.  Vietjet Selects RTX’s Pratt & Whitney to Power 19 Additional A321neo Aircraft

Vietjet exercises options for an additional 19 firm GTF-powered A321neo aircraft from Pratt & Whitney, an RTX business. The strategic move also includes an EngineWise® Comprehensive service agreement for engine maintenance. The signing ceremony, held during the Airshow, solidifies the ongoing partnership between Vietjet and Pratt & Whitney.Vietjet A330 aircraft

Vietjet expresses confidence in Pratt & Whitney’s technology, emphasizing the fuel efficiency and environmental benefits of GTF-powered aircraft. With this expansion, Vietjet’s commitment to the GTF engine extends to a total of 87 aircraft, further enhancing its growing fleet.

The  Pratt & Whitney GTF engines will provide Vietjet with some of the lowest fuel consumption and emissions in the region.

4.  Vietjet and Safran Announce Strategic Partnership for Safety Equipment on B737MAX Aircraft

Vietjet and Safran AeroSystems announce a strategic partnership for the supply of safety equipment on Vietjet’s B737MAX aircraft. The selection includes essential safety components such as Life Rafts, Protective Breathing Equipment, Crew Masks, and Life Vests, and associated support services.
