Haier Smart Home, the global leader in home appliance products and innovations, and the world’s number one home appliance brand for 15 consecutive years, is making a significant move to expand its business growth. The company has announced a 10 billion baht investment to establish its first air conditioner manufacturing plant in Thailand. This facility will cater to the growing demand in the air conditioner market and will be located on a 324,000-square-metre site within the WHA Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate 3 (WHA ESIE 3) in Chonburi province. The factory aims to be a comprehensive production base using advanced manufacturing technologies that meet global standards. Haier is committed to transforming Thailand into a fully integrated manufacturing hub, setting the stage for it to become a central player in the production and distribution of home appliances both domestically and globally. The factory is expected to produce over 6 million air conditioners annually, creating more than 3,000 jobs.

Mr. Zhou Yunjie Chairman of the Board of Haier Group stated, “This is a significant step forward in our strategic vision to expand our business across all regions of the world, reinforcing our strong leadership in the global home appliance manufacturing and distribution sectors. Thailand has been chosen as the location for this new, large-scale air conditioner manufacturing plant — the first of its kind in the ASEAN region — due to the country’s strategic geographical advantages, which provide excellent connectivity to neighbouring countries. Furthermore, the rapid growth of the air conditioner market in Thailand, valued at over billion baht, has solidified our leadership with a 13% market share, ranking us number one in sales volume for offline channels.”

The Haier air conditioner manufacturing plant, situated on a 324,000 square metre site within the WHA Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate 3 in Chonburi, is part of a 10 billion baht investment. This location is strategically significant, positioned within Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) project, just 49 kilometres from Laem Chabang Seaport in Chonburi and only 131 kilometres from Bangkok, with excellent transportation links. The plant is designed to be a fully integrated manufacturing base, equipped with state-of-the-art automated machinery and production processes that leverage advanced technologies and innovations meeting global standards. This will enhance our competitiveness in the market, supporting      an annual production capacity of up to 6 million air conditioners.

Mr. Zhou continued, “The construction of this plant will be carried out in three phases, with completion expected by 2027. The first phase, targeting an initial production of 3 million units, will commence in September 2025. The second and third phases will be completed in 2026 and 2027 respectively. Once fully operational, this facility will be the largest air conditioner manufacturing base in Southeast Asia and Haier’s largest overseas manufacturing hub for air conditioners.”

Haier is also committed to promoting the dissemination of its unique technological knowledge in research, production, and sales, building a strong and capable workforce through collaboration between the industrial sector and local communities. In the next two years, once the factory is fully operational, it is expected to stimulate the local labour market, create economic value, distribute income within the community, and generate over 3,000 jobs in Chonburi province, further supporting Thailand’s economic development.

“Haier’s investment in Thailand underscores the strong cooperation between China and Thailand in driving sustainable economic growth between the two nations. This project aligns with Haier’s vision of becoming a globally recognised home appliance brand that offers outstanding user experiences, earning the trust of consumers worldwide. Haier is committed to delivering endless creative possibilities under the concept of ‘More Creation, More Possibility,’” concluded Mr. Zhou.
