Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd. has revealed the trends of smart industry in the connectivity era, identifying four key elements that will transform industry: service models, infrastructure, skilled workforce, and industrial ecosystem, which will transform manufacturing to be cost effective, efficient, and more environmentally friendly. Huawei will drive Thai industries towards digital transformation with the ‘GUIDE’ strategy using an intelligent platform including 5G, cloud, big data, and artificial intelligence technologies.

Mr. Kriengkrai Thiennukul, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries, delivered a keynote speech entitled ‘Unlocking Thai Industries by Optimizing IIOT towards the Industry 4.0 Era’, saying: “More than 70% of SMEs are at the level of industry 2.0, resulting in low efficiency in the industrial sector. Therefore, the Federation of Thai Industries will empower all sectors to increase production efficiency through industry transformation, focusing on combining AI and IoT technologies together to build an industrial ecosystem that supports entrepreneurs.”

Dr. Chawapol Jariyawiroj, Managing Director, Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd., revealed key smart industry trends at the ‘Industrial IoT Solution Expo 2022’ seminar organized by the Federation of Thai Industries: “Currently, we are moving towards the new era of 5G and IoT (Internet of Things), which will transform user experiences and industrial applications while strengthening efforts for sustainability. The industrial sector is transitioning towards ‘Industry 4.0’, which is focused on intelligent networking, including 5G technology, cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI).”

Dr. Chawapol also added that the service sector in Industry 4.0 will deliver accessible service models for all, helping address inequality in the country. Integration of digital technologies in industrial infrastructure will help drive sustainable development while focusing on building an IT talent pool to support growing demand for 5G technology, artificial intelligence (AI), big data and cloud services. In addition, the industrial ecosystem will become more open, inclusive, and secure.

“The transition towards smart industry will lower production costs, optimize production processes and help reduce carbon emissions. For example, China has applied smart technology in the mining industry and in building smart ports while Thailand – a leader in 5G applications in the ASEAN region – has applied smart technology in various sectors, including 5G smart railway stations in Bangkok, 5G smart districts in Chiang Mai, 5G smart agriculture in Chiang Rai, and a 5G smart port in Chonburi,” added Dr. Chawapol.
