Each New Year basket can mean so much more, as with every purchase of a New Year basket at Tops from today to January 31, 2023, part of the proceeds will be donated to the prosthetic arms and legs funds under Sirindhorn School of Prosthetics and Orthotics. Customers are also invited to make donations in donation boxes or scan the QR code to contribute at Tops, Tops Food Hall, Tops Fine Food, Tops CLUB, and FamilyMart from today to November 30, 2023.

Mr. Stephane Coum, Chief Executive Officer – Food Group, Central Retail, said that Tops has a mission to grow its business alongside caring for our society, reflected through its brand DNA, as it has stood by Thai society and people all these years. During the festive season, Tops presents New Year baskets under the concept of Every Day DISCOVERY, inviting everyone to give a gift of happiness in its “Celebrating the Future” campaign. Each gift basket can mean so much more, as it can bring equality, better quality of life, and better access to medical care. The company has joined the Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, in various projects since 2017. This year, the partnership aims to give happiness to those whose mobility is compromised. According to the  Department of Empowerment of Persons With Disabilities, in 2022, there are 1.4 million people with mobility-related disabilities, or 49.87% of all disabilities.

To support the prosthetic arms and legs funds under Sirindhorn School of Prosthetics and Orthotics,  the Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, wants to offer happiness to the society through New Year baskets, which are gifts of warm wishes commonly exchanged during the festive season. Part of the proceeds will go towards prosthetic limb making, and Tops customers are invited to give happiness to those in need.

Prof. Apichat Asavamongkolkul, Dean and Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, said, “Siriraj Hospital has always stood by Thai people, and we offer hope to people from every part of the country as they seek treatment here. Sirindhorn School of Prosthetics and Orthotics is an entity under Siriraj Hospital, with many experts who are experienced and dedicated to help those with mobility issues, so that they can have a better quality of life. The school offers treatment and access to quality tools. Today, many disabled people do not have access to prosthetic limbs. Having financial support from the private sector and the public means we can make more prosthetic limbs for those whose mobility is compromised, so that they can have a better quality of life. This partnership with Tops shows the power of giving and provides opportunities to those with disabilities, so that they can live their everyday lives with more ease and confidence.”

Mr. Adisak Boribunphanit, who is under the Sirindhorn School of Prosthetics and Orthotics, Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, said, “Those with mobility issues may experience difficulties with below standard prosthetic limbs, which affects our lives. Getting help from Sirindhorn School of Prosthetics and Orthotics helped make my life more complete, because the dynamic prosthetic legs have springs that support my toes, suitable for my everyday tasks. I also add creativity to my prosthetic legs by painting them to make them pieces of art.”

“In this festive season, in addition to offering support to the public health sector, Tops also promotes sustainable giving by supporting Thai farmers to have steady income. We have selected famous fruits, vegetables, and local SME products from various parts of the country to make New Year baskets for Jing Jai Farmers’ Market. We also purchase water hyacinth baskets from Khlong Nok Krathung Water Hyacinth Weaver Community Enterprise in Nakhon Pathom to generate income for them and add value to their local products. This helps reduce the gap and improve the quality of life for Thai people in every aspect.
