Wyndham Grand Phuket Kalim Bay is proud to announce that it has received the 2023 International Sustainable Award for its proactive efforts to implement sustainable business practices in the hospitality industry.

The International Sustainable Award given by New York-based Luxury Lifestyle Awards recognises and honors individual programs that move the needle on environmental progress and demonstrate leadership and commitment to a sustainable future.

“We are honored to be recognised for our efforts and dedication put into making our resort a leader in sustainability,” said Dominic Egger, General Manager of Wyndham Grand Phuket Kalim Bay.

“As a responsible member of the hospitality industry, we believe it is our duty to implement innovative green technologies, educate our guests on sustainability, and preserve the natural surroundings for future generations to enjoy.”

Nestled on the edge of a cliff facing the Andaman Sea, Wyndham Grand Kalim Bay has installed water-efficient shower heads, controls for cooling, conducted preventative maintenance, and recycled hazardous materials, and using Handigo, a hotel app, to replace printed hotel compendiums, menus, and brochures. The resort also replaced plastic room keys with wooden ones and prioritized using natural and seasonal products for resort decorations.

The resort’s team also participates in local beach cleanups and promotes the use of reusable water bottles, recycling programs, and also include the use of paper straws to reduce single-use plastic waste and partnering with the Scholars of Sustenance to donate excess food and reduce food waste further demonstrating the resort’s commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices.

The resort has established a specially-planted orchard and herb garden maintained by resort staff to grow fresh produce for guests’ meals. The 600 square metre block of land above the resort has 160 coconut trees, 180 banana trees, 180 papaya trees, and home-grown spices and herbs primarily used as ingredients for authentic Thai cuisine. These actions are inspiring and serve as an important reminder for the hospitality industry to take proactive steps toward a more sustainable future.

For its efforts to reduce its environmental footprint, the resort has received Level 2 certification under the Wyndham Green program.

Wyndham Grand Kalim Bay offers guests a unique blend of luxury and eco-conscious living. It features pool villas and pool suites to relax and recharge, two outdoor pools, a full-service spa offering traditional Thai therapies, a Vichy shower, fitness centre, and a large ballroom with sweeping views of the bay.

The resort has 152 private pool suites and villas, each with its private six or nine-metre pool overlooking the resort gardens or the Andaman Sea. It offers resort rooms and suites to guests and apartments used by members of Club Wyndham Asia, a leading timeshare club in Asia Pacific.
