A former Royal Ballet dancer who overcame a career-ending injury, Karis Scarlette is an inspirational artist who travels the world sharing her love of ballet with people of all ages and abilities, from beginners to professionals. In Sri Lanka, where only about 35% of women participate in the labour force, Sooriya Weaving is a rare example of a successful female-centric enterprise. Founded in 1976, the family-led company produces high-quality fabrics and garments, employing women weavers, some of whom have been working there for over 40 years. Sooriya Weaving is also dedicated to reviving and preserving the Sri Lankan traditional handloom industry, using 100% virgin cotton and natural dyes.
