Lufthansa is offering customers daily flights between Bangkok and the Bavarian capitol Munich beginning with this year’s summer schedule on 27 March. These flights replace service to Frankfurt during the winter.

The initial Lufthansa flight schedule is as follows:

  • Bangkok – Munich / Flight LH773 / departure: 11 p.m. local time, arrival: 5.20 a.m. local time
  • Munich – Bangkok / Flight LH772 / departure: 10:45 p.m. local time, arrival: 2:10 p.m. Bangkok local time

The aircraft operating these services is the most modern in the world: the Airbus A350-900 that has set high standards in fuel-efficiency and passenger comfort. It offers 48 lie flat seats in Business Class, 21 in Premium Economy and 224 Economy Class seats.

Munich – Bangkok, however, is not the only service Lufthansa Group, Europe’s largest airline group, will offer Thai customers. The Group’s other premium carriers, SWISS and Austrian Airlines, will also connect Thailand with the heart of Europe. In the summer schedule, SWISS will fly six times weekly between Bangkok and Zurich while Austrian Airlines will fly daily between Bangkok and Vienna.

“The reopening of Thailand, our most important Southeast-Asian market will once again boost demand to perhaps the most popular leisure destination in all of Asia Pacific,” said Sabrina Winter, Lufthansa Group Airlines’ Head of Sales for Southeast Asia and Pacific. “A good reason why we are operating all of our three premium carriers to Bangkok.”

Flights to Frankfurt may also return soon based on the current way demand is growing. Sabrina Winter: “People are eager to travel again after not being able to do so for such a long time Thailand is a favorite destination for Europeans as Europe is for Thai residents. We are more than happy to play our part in making this happen: reconnecting Thailand with Europe and the world.”

“Flying to Munich we are able to offer our customers not only the comfort of the world’s most state-of-the-art and environmental-friendly aircraft, the Airbus A350, but also non-stop access to Europe’s first 5-star airport that was voted the best airport in Europe 14 times,” said Stefan Molnar, Lufthansa Group Airlines’ General Manager for Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines & the Mekong Region. “From Munich, passengers enjoy unparalleled connectivity to all of Europe and beyond, given Lufthansa Group’s superb network.”

Health and safety

The safety of its passengers and employees is the top priority for all Lufthansa Group Airlines. For this reason, industry-leading health and hygiene measures have been introduced along the entire travel chain.

All Lufthansa Group aircraft are equipped with state-of-the-art High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters that continuously clean cabin air: all recirculated air is filtered and cleaned of impurities such as dust, bacteria and viruses. This is done to 40 percent of cabin air; 60 percent is added as fresh air from outside the aircraft. HEPA filter technology is also used in air conditioning systems for hospital operation rooms.

All cabin air is completely renewed approximately every 3 minutes, a much higher ventilation rate than is customary for other interiors and means of transport. Additionally, the airflow in an aircraft cabin is from top to bottom. This means that the air conditioning system is designed to prevent longitudinal airflow in the cabin.

The requirement to wear a mouth and nose mask from the time of boarding until leaving the aircraft is an important part of Lufthansa Group’s hygiene concept as well as strict aircraft cleaning standards for every flight. Boarding and deboarding are performed in a staggered manner to ensure social distancing.

Throughout the entire travel chain all procedures will continuously be reviewed to guarantee maximum safety for all and will be based on the latest findings and hygiene standards of experts.

The Lufthansa Group works closely with home markets airports and in destination countries like Thailand to ensure physical distancing and other hygiene measures take place. Lufthansa Group is also in a continuous dialogue with the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and national authorities to promote ongoing development and harmonization of health standards in air transport.
